blue glass dolphin

an ornament dangles

in the corner of my eye

stuck at a red light, the blue-glass dolphin

translucent, suspended

sways from a rear-view mirror

as if swimming through air

fresh, not stale

clean, not dirty

the deep water creature stirs the flow

of an ocean come to say hello

on a street lined with grit

my heart for dolphin-blue days

in synch for a moment

with the call to wonder

leaps

before pulling away

obeying traffic
